Pete, a senior at St. Xavier High, led the Bombers to their sixth
consecutive Ohio Division I championship, winning his third title
in the 100-yard butterfly as well as taking the 100-yard
freestyle. He won nine championship medals in his high school
Jolene Anderson, PORT WING, WIS.
Jolene, a senior guard at South Shore Jr. Sr. High, set Wisconsin
girls' scoring records for most points in a game (58), season
(956) and career (2,881). She averaged 37.1 points and led the
Cardinals to a 24-2 record and the state Division IV final.
Jay Lovero, TUSTIN, CALIF.
Jay, a seventh-grader at Hewes Middle School and goalie for the
SOCAL Water Polo 14-and-under boys' team, had 48 saves as his
team outscored opponents 138-21 to win the Speedo Cup. For the
season, the team was 70-0 and Jay had 555 saves.
Emily Gastineau, CLINTON, OKLA.
Gastineau, a sophomore first baseman at Pittsburg (Kans.) State,
hit two grand slam home runs in a win over New Mexico Highlands
and another in a win against East Central. (Two in one game and
three over two games are Division II records.) She is batting
Burt Beagle, BRONX, N.Y.
Beagle, 70, a statistician at Baruch College, holds the record
for most consecutive basketball games worked--870, since 1969. He
has been the statistician for more than 6,000 high school and

Supriya, a senior at the Taft School in Watertown, Conn., won her
third individual squash title at the New England Girls
Interscholastic championships. She had a 48-0 record over her
