Jose Canseco

The book tour for the best-selling Juiced is over, but Jose Canseco is still a busy man. He and his twin brother, Ozzie, are fighting a Miami jury's ruling that they owe $1 million to two men they beat up at a nightclub in 2001. They're due in court on May 27--a day after Canseco speaks on a steroids panel at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. Jose is trying to follow Sam Shephard's lead as a writer-cum-screen star. Earlier this month he read for a part as a Dominican ballplayer in the Adam Sandler--produced The Benchwarmers, and he's talking to HBO and Spike TV about a Juiced movie. Also--step aside Miguel de Cervantes and Jorge Luis Borges--the Spanish translation of Juiced, titled El Hombre Químico (The Chemist), hits shelves in July.
