Race, a junior running back at Pittsburg State, rushed for 215 yards and scored five touchdowns in a 48--30 win over Missouri Western State. He has been Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association offensive player of the week twice this season.

Korb, 37, who works for a company that develops programs for disabled athletes, defeated Nancy Christensen 6--4, 6--1 to win the National Public Parks tennis championships in Stamford, Conn. Korb is the first wheelchair player to beat an able-bodied player in tournament play.
SEATTLE > Ultramarathon
Jurek, 31, a physical therapist, won the 135-mile Badwater Ultramarathon in a course-record 24:36:08. In June he won the men's title in the Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run for a record seventh straight year.
DELMAR, MD. > Field Hockey
Elliott, a senior forward at Salisbury, scored seven goals over a four-game stretch and was named Capital Athletic Conference player of the week. She has helped lead the defending NCAA Division III champion Sea Gulls to a 41-game winning streak.
GREAT NECK, N.Y. > Baseball
Schwartz, a sophomore righthander at Penn, had a 9--0 record for the Bayside Yankees, of Queens, N.Y. He was named tournament MVP after leading the Yankees to the National Amateur Baseball Federation Senior Division World Series title.
