RAY LEWIS Ravens LB
Homestyle BBQ joint in Baltimore; Lewis opened it last February in partnership with an Alabama chain.
Photos of Lewis cover the walls, door handles at the entrance are a "5" and a "2" (his jersey number); most tables are equipped with individual flat-screen TVs (to add "flavor" says Lewis).
Lewis comes Friday nights with his grade-school-aged daughter, Dymond. "I sit at my table"--a round, 10-seater near the head of the stairs on the second floor--"people walk in and just pause. It's funny."
Blackened salmon, collared greens and corn on the cob.
JASON KYLE Panthers LB
Upscale, members-only (annual fee: $350) martini-and-cigar lounge in Charlotte. Kyle purchased it last November.
Velvet-roped entrance leads to softly lit living-room-like areas with couches, leather armchairs and a fireplace.
Many Panthers come to mingle on Sundays after home and away games, win or lose. "It's amazing how many people show up when you give them free wings," says Kyle, who stops by several times a week.
Think Twice About
Panthers Martini: Grey Goose vodka, Blue Curaçao and olives stuffed with (purists may wish to read no further) blue cheese.
KEITH BULLUCK Titans LB
Mid-priced eatery serving a range of Southern food in Manhattan's East Village. Bulluck, who grew up outside the city, opened it with two other investors last April.
Industrial feel. High ceilings and a 12-seat metal bar in front of a huge mirror. One wall is lined with license plates from various states.
Giants' Will Allen and Colts' Dwight Freeney, Syracuse alums along with the hands-on Bulluck, who says he "even sat in on the interviews for waiters."
Louisiana sweet-potato ravioli, smoked-duck confit, hickory-plank sea bass and no less than 45 types of bourbon.
