Some outstanding performers from this year's championship swim season:
• WESTERVILLE (Ohio) Central senior Austin Staab tied a national high school record in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 47.10.
•SAMANTHA WOODWARD, a junior (right), set three state records at the Oklahoma championship meet. Her school, Edmond Memorial, took the team title.
• ST. XAVIER's (Cincinnati) boys won their ninth straight state title (and 29th overall); the Aquabombers' coach, Jim Brower, has won an Ohio-record 14 championships.
• CHRISTEL SIMMS, a Punahou School (Honolulu) sophomore, set or helped set four Hawaii records, at the state meet, winning the 100- and 200-yard frees and swimming legs on the 200 medley and 200 free relays.
