THE NFL is already trying to fill Prince's purple shoes—it's looking for a performer for the Super Bowl XLII halftime show on Feb. 3, 2008. Among the candidates on a list that NFL VP of programming Charles Coplin says is not finished: Bruce Springsteen and eight-time Grammy winner Norah Jones.... David and Victoria Beckham want to act—they're just not ready to stretch for their roles. In Truce, directed by Vadim Perelman (House of Sand and Fog) and due out next year, MLS's newest star will make a cameo as a soldier who plays in a soccer match between the English and German armies during a World War I cease-fire. Beckham's wife, meanwhile, has signed a deal with NBC for her own reality show.... WWE diva Ashley Massaro (right) is expanding her career beyond the ring. The wrestler appears in the April issue of Playboy and later this month will act in an episode of the CW's Smallville.... Michael Hoffman, who directed the 1999 film Midsummer Night's Dream, starring Kevin Kline, is now working on a midwinter one: Boise State's overtime Fiesta Bowl win over Oklahoma. Last week the school closed a deal for Hoffman, a Boise State alum, to direct a documentary about the Broncos' 2006 season.
