How do the U.S.and European teams stack up when it comes to the blocking and tackling ofgolf—long driving, finding the fairway, hitting greens in regulation and holingputts? To find out, we added up each player's rank on his respective tour inthose four categories and divided by four. We took that number and, going fromlowest total to highest, listed the 24 Ryder Cuppers from one to 24. Voil√†! TheRyder Cup Rank. (For the two Europeans, Padraig Harrington and Ian Poulter, whoqualify as members of both tours, we combined their U.S. and European rankingstotal and divided by two.) The players are shown in order of Ryder Cup Rank.(The Europeans are on page 42.)

Stricker'syearlong run of good play in 2007 carried into early '08, and he reached No. 3in the World Ranking before a late-spring minislump. He's a very good ironplayer, did well in two Presidents Cups (5-5-0) and is one of the Tour's betterputters. He's had a few unpleasant meltdowns—such as the final rounds of lastyear's U.S. (76) and British (74) Opens.
