Traylon, a senior running back at Cayuga High, ran for 320 yards and three touchdowns in a 38--29 playoff win, becoming the fourth alltime leading rusher nationally, with 9,793 yards, and breaking the state record for career TDs, with 137. The next two weeks, in the state Class A Division II quarterfinals and semis, he rushed for 353 yards and six more TDs combined.
Kayla Floor
SUWANEE, GA. > Softball
Kayla, a sophomore at Collins Hill High, was named the state Class AAAAA pitcher of the year after finishing the season 20--2 and leading the Eagles to the championship. She struck out 157 batters in 144 1/3 innings and had an 0.19 ERA in giving up only four earned runs. Kayla also had a no-hitter and threw 14 shutouts among her 18 complete games.

Matt Perez
PARK RIDGE, ILL. > Football
Matt, a senior quarterback--defensive end at Maine South High, rushed for a state championship-game-record 316 yards and scored five touchdowns, leading the Hawks to a 41--17 win over Marist and their second straight Class 8A title. Finishing the year with 2,246 total yards, 58 tackles and 10 sacks, he was named Illinois player of the year.

Malinda Baum
KILLEEN, TEXAS > Powerlifting
Baum, a 46-year-old firefighter, won the 198-pounds-and-over title in the 40--49 age group at the International Powerlifting Federation masters world championships, just days after finishing radiation treatment for breast cancer. She won the squat, bench press and deadlift competitions en route to the overall title, helping the U.S. win the world masters team title.
Paul Stuebs
NEENAH, WIS. > Soccer
Paul, a junior midfielder at Fox Valley Lutheran High, scored in double overtime to give the Foxes a 1--0 upset win over Catholic Memorial in the state Division 2 title game. It was his ninth goal of the playoffs, 21st of the year and sixth game-winner of the season. Paul also scored both goals in a 2--1 sectional semifinal victory over Xavier.

Taylor and Allyson Morey
MUNCIE, IND. > Volleyball
Taylor, a sophomore, and Allyson, a senior, at Muncie Burris High, led the Owls to a 40--0 record and a 13th straight state Class 2A championship with a three-set win over Southwood. For the season Taylor led the Owls in digs (298) and kills (330); Allyson was tops in aces (78) and assists (1,183).
