NOT FOR THE FEINT OF HEART Juan Manuel Màrquez came out swinging in last Saturday's welterweight title fight against Manny Pacquiao (page 32), taking the champ the distance in a 12-round duel in Vegas. Though several ringside reporters scored it a draw or a narrow victory for Màrquez, Pacquiao squeezed out a majority decision.

FATIGUES FACTOR Under a dome of twilit sky, North Carolina and Michigan State kicked off the college basketball season with a Veteran's Day showdown on the flight deck of the USS Carl Vinson. With President Obama in the stands, James Michael McAdoo (43) and the top-ranked Tar Heels held off Keith Appling (11) and the Spartans 67--55.

IS THERE A CATCH HERE? Broncos receiver Eric Decker was not, in fact, able to hold on to this second-quarter pass from Tim Tebow, one of only eight attempted by the Denver quarterback. In the fourth quarter the two would hook up for a 56-yard touchdown, only Tebow's second completion but the decisive play in the Broncos' 17--10 victory over the Chiefs.
