TECH TALK
TWO FACED
With Odyssey's Flip Face putter, players can turn the other cheek
THE FLIP FACE is not the first putter with a changeable face, but it's the only one that doesn't require a player to carry spare inserts—the Flip Face's extra is built into the head. This lets golfers get a feel for conditions and then adjust. If the practice green is all about speed and slope, they can go with a softer face. If the green is flatter and slower, they can switch to a face with more rebound and overspin. The change requires one screw and a wrench that's also a divot tool.
Knobs on the end of the face lock into indents on the head to ensure proper alignment.
Loosening a single screw allows the head to slide open so the face can rotate.
The multilayer White Ice insert is softer for optimum feel. On the other side is the aluminum Metal-X insert, which provides a crisp feel and has a face pattern that maximizes overspin. An inner layer of urethane enhances feel.
