Michael Slagowski | Meridian, Idaho | Track and Field
Michael, a senior at Rocky Mountain High, won the mile at the Nike Jesuit Twilight Relays in Portland in 3:59.53, shaving 6.18 seconds off his previous best; he is the ninth high school runner to break the four-minute barrier. He also has the nation's top times in the 800 (1:48.36) and 1,600 meters (4:03.97) this season. Michael will run at Penn State.
Kristen Beacham | Bartow, Fla. | Softball
Kristen, a senior righthander at Lakeland Christian School, hurled a one-hitter for a 3--0 semifinal victory over John Carroll Catholic High, then fanned 10 in a 9--1 win over University Christian School that same day for a repeat Class 3A title. She also doubled and homered in the final. Kristen, who went 17--6 with a 2.17 ERA, will play at Florida Southern.
Nolan Rapoza | Long Beach, Calif. | Surfing
Nolan, a senior who takes courses through CompuHigh online school, scored 13.17 on two waves in the final heat at the Rip Curl GromSearch International at Ala Moana Bowls, Hawaii, to defeat New Zealand's Kehu Butler by 1.01 points for the title. Nolan reached the final with a near perfect 9.83 wave in the semis and a total heat score of 17.66.
Hannah Carson | Chandler, Ariz. | Track and Field
Carson, a senior at Texas Tech, heaved the discus 61.97 meters (203'4") on her final attempt at the Masked Rider Open in Lubbock to become the first woman in NCAA history to surpass 60 meters in both the javelin and the discus in her career—let alone in the same season. Her 60.42 (198'3") in the javelin leads the nation this year.
Russell Webb | Hong Kong | Rugby
Webb, a senior fly-half at Cal, booted three straight second-half conversions to seal a 40--29 come-from-behind win over previously unbeaten Brigham Young for the Penn Mutual Varsity Cup national 15s title. He was named Man of the Match. Webb helped the Bears to the Collegiate Rugby Championship national 7s title in 2013 and '14.
Jennifer Toal | Pine Beach, N.J. | Lacrosse
Jennifer, a sophomore attacker at Toms River High South, scored a career-high eight times, including the tying goal and the game-winner with 1:58 left in overtime, for an 11--10 win over Jackson Memorial High that clinched the Class A South title. The Indians' leading scorer through Sunday with 77 goals and 12 assists, she has 97 career goals.
