Zack Bowen | Plum, Pa. | Baseball
Zack, a sophomore righthander at Serra Catholic High in McKeesport, threw back-to-back perfect games to tie a national record. He struck out eight in five innings in a 17--0 Section 2A win over Geibel Catholic High five days after another five-inning, 17--0 victory over Clairton High, when he fanned 12. Through Sunday, Zack was 6--0 with a 1.06 ERA.
Cyera Hintzen | Richardson, Texas | Soccer
Cyera, a senior forward at Sachse High, had 22 goals and nine assists—despite missing four games to train with the U.S. under-19 team—to lead the 21-1-1 Mustangs to the second round of the Class 6A, Region 2 playoffs. The two-time District 11-6A MVP finished with a school-record 108 goals, along with 48 assists. Cyera will play at Texas.
Jordan Geist | Cabot, Pa. | Track and Field
Jordan, a junior at Knoch High, won his second straight shot put title at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia with a meet-record heave of 73'¾", the top mark in the nation this season. The defending Western Pennsylvania champion in the outdoor shot (65'¾") and discus (177'6"), Jordan won the shot put championship at indoor nationals (71'2¾") in March.
Victoria Ortiz | Mobile, Ala. | Softball
Victoria, a sophomore first baseman at Baker High, led the defending 7A champs to the South Region title. She went 4 for 5 with a grand slam and six RBIs in a 10--2 win over McGill-Toolen Catholic High, then 3 for 4 with two homers and seven RBIs in a 10--4 defeat of Fairhope High. In 62 games Victoria batted .543 with 20 homers and 98 RBIs.
Avion Jones | Virginia Beach, Va. | Track and Field
Jones, a senior high jumper at East Carolina, leaped 7'7", tops in the NCAA this season and tied for the fifth-best mark in the world so far this year. The win was his fourth straight American Athletic Conference title (indoor and outdoor). Last year Jones cleared 7' 4½" to finish third at the NCAA Division I championships.
Andrea Wong | San Francisco | Golf
Wong, a senior at UC Davis, fired a six-under 65 at the Stanford Golf Course for the best round of the Division I Stanford Regional and the lowest score in school history, claiming co-medalist honors with a three-day total of 209. This year she led the Aggies in regular-season scoring average (74.04) and was the 2015 Big West champ.
