WATCH: THE SHOP
Before LeBron James makes his home debut for the Lakers at Staples Center, he'll star in a different venue: the barbershop. Uninterrupted, the digital media company started by James and Maverick Carter, teamed up with HBO Sports to produce The Shop, an unscripted talk show featuring LeBron in conversation—about sports, politics, pop culture, family—with other athletes and celebrities at barbershops around the country. Think Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, only with fewer automobiles and more clippers. "Anyone who has been in a real barbershop knows why this show can be so incredible," James told HBO. In the first episode Jon Stewart asks James about his kids playing basketball. "How do you give them a peace of mind that they don't have to be you?" James responds, "I still regret giving my 14-year-old my name because of that." The show premieres Aug. 28 on HBO.

JOHN MCENROE: IN THE REALM OF PERFECTION

You cannot be serious! An entire movie about John McEnroe's 1984 French Open? Thankfully, we are. Julien Faraut's documentary, which debuted at February's Berlin Film Festival, intersperses gorgeous 16-mm-shot archival footage of McEnroe's '84 run at Roland Garros with old French tennis instructional films. It's an unconventional portrait of an outsized personality.
