Zoe, a freshman at Ridge High, won a pair of titles at the national championships in St. Louis, the Youth 14 sabre and the cadet women's sabre. She's the first fencer in over a decade to earn two titles at the event. In March, Zoe finished second in Y-14 sabre at the North American Cup in Baltimore.

Shenton, a junior third baseman at Florida International, was named MVP of the 2018 Cape Cod League championship series, hitting .522 with three home runs to lead the Wareham Gatemen to the title. During the regular season he was third in the league in batting (.349) and second in RBIs (30).

CJ CHARLESTON

• Gates Mill, Ohio

CJ, a senior at Gilmour Academy, won two Division 3 state titles in his first season in track and field. He took the long jump in 22'53/4", the first field-event state champion in school history. He was also the leadoff runner on the 4 × 100 relay team, which set a school record at 43.16.

LaVoie, 36, owner of a CrossFit gym, finished first in the women's all-around at the world championship in Milwaukee. The world-record holder in the underhand chop, she holds the Guinness world record with 27 Christmas trees cut in two minutes, besting the old mark by 18.

MAORI DAVENPORT

• Troy, Ala.

Maori, a 6'4" senior forward at Henderson High, had seven points and six rebounds to lift the U.S. U-18 team to an 84--60 win over Canada in the FIBA Americas final. An all-tournament pick, she averaged 18.2 points, 12.0 boards and 5.1 blocks last season to lead Henderson to the 5A state title.
