Living the Life

WHAT DOES a typical NFL star do on game day—besides, you know, play football? SI TV tagged along with Chargers running back Melvin Gordon as he drove from his apartment in an L.A. high-rise to the StubHub Center, where he ran for 104 yards in a 29--27 win over the 49ers, to his postgame meal of Chinese takeout he shared with his parents, Bo and Carmen, and former Wisconsin teammate Kenzel Doe. (For the record, he claims he usually chooses healthier fare.) It's all part of the 24 Hours With ... series that chronicles the daily grind of some of the biggest stars in sports.

• BALANCING ACT West Virginia senior quarterback Will Grier is not just a Heisman Trophy candidate. He's also a husband to Jeanne, a father to two-year-old Eloise and a sociology student trying to do it all. "Being a family man is way harder than football," he says. Grier gave SI an inside look at his life, as well as the stress of running the offense for a Power 5 team.
