As a senior at Lincolnton (N.C) High, Sage Surratt was a dominant dual-sport athlete. He made FACES IN THE CROWD on May 1, 2017, after averaging 34.6 points and 11.8 rebounds as a 6'3" shooting guard; setting single-season state records for receiving yards (2,104) and catches (129); and being named the NCHSAA athlete of the year. (Not to mention he was the valedictorian of his class.) Offered a football scholarship by North Carolina with a chance to walk on to the basketball team, Surratt decided early as a senior that he would play only football in college. So far, it looks like a wise move. The redshirt freshman wide receiver at Wake Forest caught 11 passes for 150 yards in his Aug. 30 debut, a 23--17 win at Tulane, and was chosen ACC offensive rookie of the week. Through six games Surratt has 19 catches for 280 yards and a score.
