Big Money

IT'S OFFICIAL: The contract for U.S. men's national team star Christian Pulisic (below) has been sold to Chelsea by Borussia Dortmund for $73.1 million, shattering the record transfer fee for a U.S. soccer player. The fee is also the third highest in Chelsea history; only Spanish keeper Kepa ($91.2 million) and 26-year-old Alvaro Morata ($75.3 million), who has scored 16 goals since joining Chelsea last season, have commanded more from the West London club.

While Chelsea's willingness to pay massive bucks for Pulisic is surely a testament to what he can bring on the field, the price no doubt got a bump from Pulisic's young age (20) and his nationality; like so many European clubs, Chelsea wants a bigger piece of the American pie, and buying the best can only help.
