In 2004, Congress designated December 13 as National Day of the Horse to encourage Americans to be mindful of the contribution of horses to the economy, history and character of the United States. In celebration of our equestrian heritage, here is a look at horses appearing on more than 65 years of Sports Illustrated covers.
