Known also as spoonbill, broad-faced mallard and shovelnose, the shoveller is a handsome surface feeder, chiefly appearing along the Pacific and Central flyways, which are its principal migration routes. One of 16 distinguished duck portraits by Athos Menaboni, it is shown on the reverse of the foldout duck-fly ways map opposite page 40.
