Army's Don Holleder was picked to grace this week's cover not just because he wears a gold helmet and a confident grin with easy assurance. It was because this tall, rugged young man from Webster, N.Y. has been operating under more pressure all season than any other quarterback in college football. An All-America end last year, with all the ability to excel at his position, he was asked to switch to a new—and even tougher—job in his senior year. This weekend, before 100,000 people at Philadelphia's Municipal Stadium, he will be asked to face his biggest test—Navy and its veteran, brilliant quarterback, George Welsh.
