G. SPENCE HANNA
Winner of the Dulles Regatta held off Sodus Point on Lake Ontario with Selene, his mahogany-hulled Dragon-class sloop, Hanna (left) receives the trophy awarded each year by Secretary of State John Foster Dulles. The Secretary, who maintains a retreat on nearby Duck Island, has himself sailed eastern Lake Ontario waters for many years.
BOB McCALL
A hole in one on the 132-yard 26th hole was the deciding factor in the 27-year-old McCall's one-up victory over Bob Shave Jr. in the Ohio Amateur championships. Sharing a hold on the winner's trophy is Bob's bride of five months, Jean, who was so overcome by the excitement of the match that she fainted dead away on the course.
