COVER: SPORTS ILLUSTRATED'S FIRST
Photograph by Mark Kauffman
With this, our second anniversary issue, SPORTS ILLUSTRATED shows a new face. The lettering on our cover, we feel, gives our photographic mission—and achievement—the credit it deserves. The articles which follow underline the range of our activities—among others, a projection far into the future and the story of a boxer from the moon. Frankly, we feel proud and happy on our birthday. And the Braves, who graced our first cover? Well, as of now they're on top too—and who knows?
