MILWAUKEE BRAVES

THE PITCHERS

33 LEW BURDETTE
Throws R, bats R. Rec. 18-10. ERA 2.86. League leader in ERA most of season. Has pin-point control. Throws slider, curve, fast ball with any one of three motions. Sinker or screwball tremendously effective. Fidgety on mound, throws with peculiar motion. Tough competitor.

21 WARREN SPAHN
Throws L, bats L. Rec. 19-10. ERA 2.90. A "cutie" pitcher with wonderful control. He throws good fast ball, slow curve, fast curve and change-up. Smart, knows hitters well, has deadly move to first. Excellent fielder, best hitter on staff. One of only four active 200-game winners.

10 BOB BUHL
Throws R, bats R. Rec. 18-8. ERA 3.23. Primarily a fast ball pitcher but throws good curve and slider. Control has vastly improved this year. Always had good stuff but added confidence makes him doubly tough; now he'll use breaking pitch when behind. Throws with jerky motion.

THE HITTERS

44 HENRY AARON, RF
Bats R, throws R, .325 avg. 26 HR. Extraordinary wrist-control of bat. Good curve-ball hitter, good bad-ball hitter. Likes first pitch. Hits to all fields. Keep ball high and tight but don't show him same pitch twice. Good fielder. Fast enough but routine base runner.

23 JOHNNY LOGAN, SS
Bats R, throws R. .280 avg. 15 HR. High strung, emotional, will put everything into every game. A clutch hitter, smart bunter, good hit-and-run man, smart base runner. Fast-ball hitter, likes 'em inside. Throw him a little of everything. Is a shrewd, capable fielder with sure arm.

25 BOBBY THOMSON, LF
Bats R, throws R. .233 avg. 20 HR. Hits inside pitch well (ask Ralph Branca), and can pull homers down line. Throw him curves low. Fully recovered from broken ankle, he's one of fastest in game. Paradoxically, he's a terrible base runner. Great range in field, adequate arm.

9 JOE ADCOCK, 1B
Bats R, throws R. .290 avg. 37 HR. Big, rangy, with tremendous power, Keep ball low and away but move it around. Guess hitter at times, will anticipate outside pitch. Leans over plate looking for it, gets hit a lot. Power to left-center. Not great fielder but good on throws in dirt.

1 DEL CRANDALL, C
Throws R, bats R. .248 avg. 16 HR. The team captain. A good catcher who never reached heights predicted for him. He's a low-average hitter with plenty of power. Will hit low, inside fast ball for homer. Curve him, low and away. Has good arm. Is slow, no threat on bases.

4 DANNY O'CONNELL, 2B
Bats R, throws R. .240 avg. 2 HR. Always thinking at the plate, good hit-and-run man but is not a real bat threat. Keep ball low and curve him. Gives it good try in field and will make spectacular play now and then. But range is limited and he's inaccurate on hurried throws.

41 EDDIE MATHEWS, 3B
Bats L, throws R. .271 avg. 36 HR. Pull hitter with powerful swing. Stadium's right field seats will seem close. Bats from slight crouch, can hit anything. Pitch him classic way: low and tight, high and away. Surprisingly fast. Pretty good fielder despite casual approach.

38 BILL BRUTON, CF
Bats L, throws R. .269 avg. 7 HR. Has lightning speed. Primarily a singles' hitter who picks up extra base with his feet. Hits through middle a lot. Likes fast balls, so feed him curves. Bill is a constant threat on bases. Has tremendous range in center and a good arm.

48 ANDY PAFKO, OF
Bats R, throws R. .250 avg. 2 HR. One of few Braves with World Series experience. Can still hit for distance. Keep the ball away from him; Andy likes it low and close. First-pitch hitter. A real hustler. Still a good fielder who covers plenty of ground and has a fine arm.
