DUDE'S DELIGHT

The thrumming sound of horses' hoofs and the sight of a herd in the golden dawn, the traditional scene of the Old West, lives for most people only in the movies. But those with a nostalgia for horse sweat, sunshine and open spaces can still head for a dude ranch and take part in the real thing. At Irving Larom's Valley Ranch near Cody, Wyoming (above), adventurous guests become part of the spectacle and help the hands bring the herd from the night pasture.
