FROM THE FLYWAYS
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service sneak-previewed the forthcoming waterfowl season last week, but promised expectant hunters few changes over past years. Outside shooting dates remain October 1 to January 15, with specific seasons, based on number of days allotted each flyway, to be determined by individual states. Each state may also elect consecutive or split seasons. Shooting hours remain at one-half hour before sunrise, to sunset, with some local exceptions still to be decided. The general waterfowl picture for 1957-58 shapes up as follows:
ATLANTIC FLYWAY: 70 consecutive days or 63 split. Limits: ducks, daily 4, possession 8; geese, daily 2, possession 4.
MISSISSIPPI FLYWAY: 70 consecutive days or 63 split. Limits: ducks, daily 4, possession 8; geese, daily and possession 5.
CENTRAL FLYWAY: 75 consecutive or 68 split. Limits: ducks, daily 5, possession 10; geese, daily and possession 6.
PACIFIC FLYWAY: 95 consecutive or 86 split. Limits: ducks, daily 5, possession 10; geese, daily and possession 6.
Watchword for waterfowlers: specific state regulations, still in the making, may alter shooting situation in some areas.
