HICKMAN'S HUNCHES for games of Saturday, November 16
•Ohio State—Iowa. Unscathed in Big Ten, Buckeyes can take title and Rose Bowl trip, while once-tied Iowa can clinch championship. Ohio State has shown powerful running offense. Iowa has determined defenders. IOWA.
•Tennessee—Mississippi. Probable Sugar or Cotton Bowl berth at stake in this melee at Memphis. Rebs undefeated in SEC play, while Vols have won them all since loss to bowl-banned Auburn. Ole Miss has not faced the tough schedule of Tennessee. Trained upon pain and punishment...TENNESSEE.
•Oklahoma—Notre Dame. TV Game of the Week. Two weeks ago this meeting looked like a test for the Sooners, but the Irish now have been thrashed twice. Seemingly a spot for Sooner complacency, still...OKLAHOMA.
•Michigan State—Minnesota. Once-downed Spartans still have a glimmer of hope for Rose Bowl. Gophers have been a disappointment. Could rise and strike but...MICHIGAN STATE.
•Rice—Texas A&M. Owls, with one conference loss, are still in SWC battle. Aggies keep narrowing the field week by week. A vote for ABC—Aggies, Bryant and Crow. TEXAS A&M.
•Princeton—Yale. Tigers, unbeaten in Ivy League, had close call with Harvard while the Bulldogs were soundly defeated in Philadelphia. Elis will be ready. In what should be nip-and-tuck, PRINCETON.
•Wisconsin—Illinois. Badgers most improved team in Big Ten while the Illini staged two major upsets, Minnesota and Michigan. My vote goes to the spoilers. ILLINOIS.
•Duke—Clemson. Blue Devils bound for bowl. Clemson is capable of beating them or anybody, but I'll stick with the Devils. DUKE.
