MARLIN: HAWAII: FVG at Kona, where last week Dr. Dale Scott of Los Angeles took a 911-pound marlin after a 50-minute fight from Captain Henry Chee's Malia. Dr. Scott's catch is largest ever taken on rod and reel from Kona waters and adds spice to debate about Kona marlin (SI, Sept. 2). No firm ichthyological decision has been handed down on whether giant Kona marlin are blue, black or a subspecies.

PACIFIC SALMON: IDAHO: FG still on Snake River in vicinity of Marsing and Homedale where ponderous fish are playing havoc with light tackle. Egg cluster the bait and large Dardevle the lure of the moment; OG.

CALIFORNIA: SC for ocean trolling south of Tomales Point, but OG in Albion and Navarro rivers as silvers move in. No runs yet in Noyo, Ten Mile and Big Rivers but conditions ideal and fish should arrive any day. Water H and R on south fork of Eel, but OG with count of chinooks and silvers at Benbow Dam ranging from 200 to 600 a day.

OREGON: Streams L and C and FP with no new runs in evidence.

TROUT: IDAHO: Last week Mel Bryant of Spokane, Washington fishing a Lucky Louie plug on surface of Lake Pend Oreille snagged a 32- pound Kamloops trout. Fish was 36 inches long with a girth of 26½ inches and became third largest Lake Pend Oreille Kamloops on record. Top catch is still 37-pound mammoth taken in 1947.

BONEFISH: BAHAMAS: Out Island season opening with FVG. Last week at Sandy Point, Abaco, 56 miles north of Nassau, John H. Motschall of Grosse Pointe, Mich. took five bonefish afternoon he arrived and followed up with 21 more caught in two hours the next morning. Largest fish was 6 pounds 14 ounces. At the Bang Bang Club on Andros Island, J. S. Robbins, Grant Neely and James Underwood all of Latrobe, Pa. report FVG also with a heavy catch of boners to 8¼ pounds. Bahamian OVG.

WEAKFISH: TEXAS: FG at Laguna Madre, Corpus Christi Bay, Aransas Pass boat basin and Fulton Harbor. Four-to 6-pounders active in Arroyo Colorado in Rio Grande Valley and OG.
