PEGGY AUGUSTUS

This comely young woman accomplished the almost impossible feat this year of retiring five challenge trophies. With her chestnut hunter Waiting Home, Peggy proved to be invincible. This team of horse and girl retired (by winning them for the third time) the Greenway Boy Trophy for Thoroughbred Hunters at Devon, Pa.; the Conformation Hunter Championship Trophy at the Bath County Horse Show in Hot Springs, Va.; the Julian Keith Trophy for Working Hunters at Warren ton, Va.; the Pennsylvania Steel Trophy for Conformation Hunters at Harrisburg, Pa.; and the William Wharton Trophy for Ladies' Conformation Hunters at the National Horse Show in Madison Square Garden. She also won the Conformation Hunter Stake at the Royal Winter Fair Horse Show in Toronto. Peggy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ellsworth H. Augustus of Cobham, Va. and Willoughby, Ohio, celebrated her 25th birthday two weeks ago. She has been in show competition since she was 15.
