FACES IN THE CROWD

Lois Henry, of Marathon Shores, Fla., won the Stuart (Fla.) Light Tackle Sailfish Tournament with a big sail she hooked half an hour before the deadline, then fought on 12-pound test line in a heavy sea for two hours. She is the second woman to win in eight years.

Joe Nichols Jr., 16-year-old Greenwood, Mo. shooter, broke 150 targets to win the Class A championship in the 15th Mid-Winter Trapshoot of Sahara Gun Club, near Las Vegas. He had 50 straight hits in a shoot-off while all opponents missed at least once.

Louis Moniz, 41, for years the best golfer in Bermuda but a man who is unable to compete regularly in major tournaments because he cannot get away from his job as a vegetable vendor, entered his second big event, the Belmont Christmas Tournament. He won.

Lyle (Bud) Belk, 33-year-old basketball coach at Aberdeen (S. Dak.) H.S., in his first year as coach led the Golden Eagles to state high school championship and designation by South Dakota Sports Writers Association as High School Team of the Year.

Leah Bennett, U. of Hawaii coed from Catonsville, Md., bettered the senior national women's indoor 440-yard record during a meet at the university's Cooke Field with a time of 60.1, also broke her own Hawaii mark in the 880-yard run with a time of 2:24.6.

Tom Hall, of Wilmington, Del., 21-year-old senior end on Minnesota's winning Rose Bowl team who will be switched to defensive halfback by the Detroit Lions, was selected as the 13th winner of Delaware's Outstanding Athlete of the Year award.
