A ROUGHHOUSE REBIRTH FOR RUGGER
Rugby is a rough game that started in England in 1823 when a frustrated British soccer player picked up the ball and ran with it The sport found its way to the U.S. in the 1870s, but languished. Now it is enjoying a rebirth. Next weekend some 24 clubs and college teams in the West are expected to take part in the fourth annual Monterey Peninsula Tournament.
