FACES IN THE CROWD

Mickey Schad, University of Miami sophomore, took both the singles and doubles titles at the Florida Intercollegiate Tennis Championships in Cape Coral. His opponent in the singles final, second-seeded Frank Tutvin (4-6, 6-1, 6-3). was his partner in the doubles.

Jurate Kazickas of New Rochelle, N.Y., who teaches at St. Cecilia's Teacher Training College in Nyeri, Kenya, accompanied a group of girl students of the Kikuyu tribe on a climb to the 16,000-foot summit of Point Lenana, third highest peak on Mount Kenya.

Bill Carroll, Tufts University sophomore, shot a five-over-par 76 in a heavy rain to win the Greater Boston Collegiate Golf Championship at the Weston (Mass.) Golf Club. He birdied only the 275-yard 9th hole but putted well on the sodden greens.

Johnny Johnson, of Pacific Grove (Calif.) High, broadjumped 25 feet 4¾ inches at the El Cerrito Relays, bettering by one-half inch Monte Upshaw's 1954 national high school mark. Johnson is a nephew of Rafer Johnson, 1960 Olympic decathlon winner.

Joe Lesser Jr., 11, a Little League outfielder from Houston, made his debut as a bullfighter in Reynosa, Mexico. Lacking enough height and strength to attempt a kill, he fought two bulls and a calf, was injured slightly when pinned against an arena wall.

Dick DeWese, a junior geography major at Memphis State University, came on in relief in the first of two games against the University of North Dakota, threw two pitches and got credit for the 4-3 victory. The next day the left-hander started and threw a 6-0 no-hitter.
