FACES IN THE CROWD

Bo Trotter, 16, a high school junior from Columbus, Ga. and a tournament golfer since the age of 12, teamed with his father to win the Donald J. Ross Father-Son Scotch foursome tournament on Pinehurst's No. 1 and No. 3 courses with a 35-31-66 round.

Dave Ross, a senior at St. Lawrence University, was chosen the Most Valuable Player at the ECAC Holiday Hockey Festival in New York's Madison Square Garden after he tied the tournament scoring record with three goals and five assists in three games.

Sandra Shellworth, a University of Colorado senior from Boise, Idaho, won both the women's downhill and the giant slalom at the Alpine Holiday Classic in Vail, Colo. She was named to the U.S. Alpine team which is competing in four European meets.

Ismael El Shafei, of Cairo, U.A.R., the 1964 Wimbledon junior champion, swept through seven matches in straight sets at the Orange Bowl Junior Tennis Tournament in Miami and, in the finals, defeated Jamie Pressly of West Palm Beach 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 for the title.

John Liston, an insurance salesman from Gilson, Ill., won the world duck-calling championship in Stuttgart, Ark. with a total of 431 points out of 500 for his four calls. He also took the Champion of Champions contest, held every five years, with 456 points.

Mike Lawson, a 6-foot 10-inch center from Holland (Mich.) High, averaged 26 points a game in his first live contests of the season. His high was 41 in a 113-73 win over Godwin Heights High in which four of his teammates scored in double figures.
