J. Wolcott Brown, 63, a Sea Girt, N.J. banker and former U.S. Seniors' and Southern Seniors' champion, defeated Detroit Attorney George Haggarty, a two-time winner, 2 up to take his first Belle-air Senior Invitational Golf Tournament at Belleair, Fla.

Mrs. Eligio Del Guercio Jr. of Landrum, S.C. landed four sailfish on 12-pound test line to take the International Women's Fishing Association's billfish tournament at Palm Beach. Mrs. Del Guercio, the 1962 winner, is the first to repeat in the championship.

Dwight Durante, a 5-foot-8 freshman guard at Catawba College, Salisbury, N.C., tallied 58 points against Western Carolina to set a new single-game scoring record in the Carolinas Conference. Durante is the league's leading scorer with a 30.1 average.

Lynden Fisher, a Charleston, W. Va. funeral director, broke 100 straight birds in a four-man, triple-round shootoff to win the all-gauge title at the Mid-Winter Skeet Championships at Pinehurst, N.C. Fisher also holds West Virginia's .410 and .28 gauge titles.

Patrick Pera, 17-year-old student who began skating at age 6, succeeded World Figure-Skating Champion Alain Calmat, who recently retired, in the French championships in Paris when he was second in compulsory figures and placed first in the free skating.

William Spencer of Salt Lake City skied through a blizzard in 18° temperature and fired a total of 20 rounds at four targets to win the U.S. National Biathlon Championships at Lake Placid, N.Y. Spencer's corrected time was 1:45.20 over the 16-mile course.
