Curtis Person, 55, a Memphis automobile dealer and amateur golfer for 40 years, won his 10th senior title in 13 tries since last September when he took the Life Begins at 40 Tournament in Harlingen, Texas, 1 up over Henry Richards, a Jacksboro, Texas, rancher.

Jim Jackson, 17, of Brooklyn, who holds the national scholastic 600-yard indoor flat-floor record, ran the 1,000-yard in 2:14 at New York's Eastern States meet to break his own month-old flat-floor mark by 1.6 seconds and tie the all-floors record.

Bill Martin, the wrestling coach of Granby High School in Norfolk, Va., recorded his 200th victory in 19 years when his team defeated Oscar Smith High School 41-5. Martin's teams have had only nine defeats and four tics and have won 17 state titles.

Wayne Proffitt, a 25-year-old college junior and father of three, tallied 68 points and set a State of Virginia college basketball scoring record while leading his Lynchburg team to a 126-87 victory over University of North Carolina, Charlotte branch.

Bill Flagg, a high school senior from Richardson, Texas, drove his 16-foot Stern-craft outboard with twin 110-hp Mercury engines, through rough water to victory in the Class 3 division of the 100-mile 1966 Channel Derby on Galveston Bay near Houston.

Doug Volmar, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound Michigan State wing-man who began skating on municipal hockey teams in Cleveland during high school, leads the Western Collegiate Hockey Association in total points with 36 on 18 goals and 18 assists, including five hat tricks.
