FACES IN THE CROWD

Ed Duncan, 21, of Oakland, Calif., a former University of California swimmer and water-polo player, swam the tricky waters of the Golden Gate strait, from Fort Point to Lime Point—and back—a distance of nearly five miles, in the record time of 51:45.4.

Mike Heilman of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., celebrated his eighth birthday three days laic by winning the Jacksonville Invitational Judo Tournament in his age group with a perfect score. The win was no surprise. Mike is a former state 6-year-and-under champion.

Joan Moser, 20, of Glenside, Pa., scored the game's only goal—in the first period—as Ursinus College of Collegeville, Pa. defeated West Chester 1-0 in field hockey. The win avenged Ursinus' only defeat last year and, in fact, their only loss in the past five.

Rick Robustelli, 16, of Stamford, Conn., the 6-foot-1, 165-pound son of ex-New York Giant Defensive End Andy Robustelli, threw eight touchdown passes in two straight games to lead Stamford Catholic High to the Fairfield County eastern division football title.

John Coussoulas, 16, an Athens College High School junior who is short on technique but long on ability, high-jumped 6 feet 8¼ inches in the first competitive meet of the year, against Italy, for a Greek national record and a Balkan mark for competitors under 20.

James H. Ackerman, 70, of Lake Wales, Fla. and Princeton, N.J., won the Three Score and Ten golf championship (for men 70 and over) at North Carolina's Pinehurst Country Club by 22 strokes with a 72-hole score of 290 on rounds of 75-70-73-72.
