Tim McLane, a 220-pound halfback for Coshocton (Ohio) High School, accounted for 44 points in his team's 56-36 win over Ashland on six TDs and four two-point conversions. In six games McLane has scored 96 points and gained 712 yards in 92 carries for a 7.7 average.

Yayneshet (Jeff) Teferi, the son of an Ethiopian diplomat in Washington, D.C., tied one Frostburg (Md.) State College soccer record (scoring 10 goals in seven games) and set another (with three goals in one quarter) as his team routed St. Vincent College 9-2.

Marge Mason, 50, New Jersey's six-time ladies' amateur golf titlist, shot a 54-hole total of 236 for a tournament record at the USGA Senior Women's Championship in Northfield, N.J., defeating Mrs. Hulet Smith, the 1964 and 1965 winner, by four strokes.

Charles Raab, a 32-year-old optometrist from Port Angeles, Wash. who took up archery only three weeks before his first hunt with bow and arrow, bagged a mountain goat with 9‚Öû-inch horns—more than an inch longer than the previous world archery record.

Mike Cross, a business student at Chattanooga Tech, gained the 123-pound National AAU Power Lift title in York, Pa., setting a U.S. mark in the dead lift at 480 pounds. Mike also holds eight city and state records in Olympic lifts and three state marks in dead lift.

Ray Briscoe, a senior at New Albany (Ind.) High School who has lost only three tennis matches over the past four years, led his team, unbeaten in 51 dual matches, to its first state high school championship when he beat James Lopez of Gary, Ind. for the singles title.
