FACES IN THE CROWD

John Price, 11, a 4'8" swimmer from Harrisburg, Pa., scored 10 consecutive triple victories in dual meets during the indoor season to set an Eastern Pennsylvania YMCA regional record. John's wins were in the freestyle, the butterfly, backstroke and individual medley.

Kent Wyatt, 145-pound-class wrestler at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, Calif., had a 30-0 record this season, including three matches in the California Collegiate Athletic Association championships and five in the NCAA college division tournament.

Becky Burcalow, 16, of Houston bowled a 680 series—one of the highest ever for a girl—to win her 104th trophy. Becky, who has a 194 average, says she never goes on a bowling date since, "I can't try to lose, because they'll know it and then feel worse."

Bob Kauffman, a 6'8" center for Guilford (N.C.) College who is considered a top pro prospect, ranked third in the NAIA in field goal percentage and second in rebounds with a 23.1 average when he led his basketball team to a 25-5 record this season.

Sam Walker, a 6'2", 230-pound, three-year track letterman and a senior at Samuell High in Dallas, put the shot 69'11¾ for a national interscholastic record, surpassing Dallas Long's 69'3" mark set in 1958. Two weeks later, Walker heaved the shot 71'1¼".

Tom Mellor, a senior at Northwood School in Lake Placid, N.Y., and his friend Timmy McAdam scored a total of 410 points in four years of hockey. Tom had 103 goals and 97 assists, mainly against college freshman teams and Canadian prep schools.
