FACES IN THE CROWD

Scott Heilman, 8, of Fort Lauderdale, took first in the eight-year-old lightweight division (68 pounds) of the Dallas Invitational Judo Tournament. He was Florida state champion in his age group last year, and has placed second and third in other tourneys.

Debbie Lauer, 17, of Carmichael, Calif., won the Central Pacific Senior Ladies Figure Skating Championship at Squaw Valley. She has been skating competitively only two years, but in her first major competition won the Southwest Pacific Championship.

A.L. (Red) Enloe, 65, of Decatur, Ga., won the first outdoor USLTA National 65-and-over Championship at Cape Coral, Fla., then teamed with the man he defeated to win the doubles title. Enloe is the nation's sixth-ranked 60-and-over player.

Jim White, 17, a senior at Barstow (Calif.) High School, kicked a 58-yard field goal against Ontario High. The professional football record is 56 yards. White is 10 for 16 in field goal attempts, averaging 37 yards, and has a 53.8-yard kickoff average.

Mark Sims, 13, won 25 firsts and 10 seconds at 50 to 660 yards over a two-year period for the Enid (Okla.) Track Club and broke six age group meet records. An eighth-grader, he also plays football, basketball and baseball for Longfellow Junior High.

Dave Kartio, Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., a senior on the University of North Dakota hockey team, scored lour goals in a 4-3 win over Denver, the defending NCAA champion. All four came after his team was behind 3-0. The win snapped a 22-game Denver win streak.
