Stan Greenfield of Rockford (Ill.) College scored 45 points to lead his basketball team to a 91-84 victory over St. Procopius College and become the state's alltime college-division career scoring leader. He also has been named to Who's Who Among Students.
Mary Ellen Dinneen, a graduate of Northwestern University, is the "color man" for WEAW's radio broadcast of NU basketball games. She is the former captain of the NU girls' team and the granddaughter of former major league umpire Bill Dinneen.
Elizabeth Whall, 92, of San Antonio, who has been bowling for more than 50 years, rolled the first ball to start the 36th Senior Citizens city tournament. She has bowled in 35 of them. She still participates in two leagues each week and carries 110 and 113 averages.
Bobby Crawford, 10, led his Long Island A.C. Scooters hockey team to an undefeated season and the Tri-State (N.J., N.Y., Conn.) League Championship by scoring 50 goals and 25 assists in 12 league games. He has been playing for seven years.
Larry Shipp, of St. Albans School for Boys in Washington, ran the 60-yard prep hurdles (39 inches) in 7.0 and the 70-yard hurdles in 8.2 to establish national high school records. He also ran 7.2 in the international hurdles (42 inches) at 60 yards to tie another mark.
Jerry Lavenstein, of Virginia Beach, Va., after a 35-minute fight, landed a 16-pound bonefish on 12-pound test line in Bimini. If accepted by the IGFA, it will break the present world-class record by one pound. The catch came in his 16th year of bonefishing.
