FACES IN THE CROWD

George Yadrich, of Rockhurst (Mo.) College, won the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Bowling Championship when he totaled 460 pins in a two-game roll-off for the title. He also teamed with Jay Schultehenrich to take the doubles championship.

Dan Haskell, 11, a 6-footer from Fountain Valley, Calif., led the Monterey Park Monarchs to the AAU Junior Olympic National Basketball Championship (Midget Division) in Poplar Bluff, Mo. He scored 84 points and grabbed 57 rebounds in four games.

Jim Cue led Anderson (Ind.) High to its first state golf championship since 1955 when he took medal honors with 76-72—148 at the Old Oakland course in Indianapolis. Four days later he won the state junior title with a one-up victory on the 19th hole.

Al Dopfel led collegiate baseball in average strikeouts per game (15.4) while compiling a 0.56 ERA for MIT. Included in his wins were a no-hitter, a one-hitter and a two-hitter. He was named the MVP of the Greater Boston Collegiate Baseball League.

Victor White, a junior at Harrison High, Colorado Springs, set a new Colorado high school triple-jump record when he bounded 48'2¾" at the Pikes Peak Relays. A month later he won the state AAA championship with another record leap of 49'3".

Jane Allison McCollister, 53, Of San Rafael, Calif., competing in the short-course National Masters Swimming Championships, set age-group records in the 200-, 500- and 1,600-yard freestyle. She also won the 50- and 100-yard freestyle races.
