FACES IN THE CROWD

John Wilcox, 25, a member of the Tri-State team in the Williamsport, Pa. Parade of Stars League, rolled games of 287, 298 and 300 for an 885 series, one pin off the world record set by Allie Brant in 1939. It was the second time he has bowled a perfect game.

Tom Boehme, a freshman at San Jose City College in California, intercepted six passes from his free safety position in a 28-16 triumph over Merritt College. Boehme picked off one pass in his end zone and returned another for 68 yards to set up a touchdown.

Bruce Grossnickle, a DePauw University junior, carded a three-over-par 73-74—147 to win his third straight Indiana Collegiate Conference golf championship. Grossnickle has a chance next year to become the first golfer to capture the league title four times.

Betty Stevens, of Clinton, Md., set duck-pin bowling world records for 20, 25 and 30 games in winning the Washington, D.C. 30-game Elimination Classic. She had a 136.7 average in posting scores of 2,794, 3,459 and 4,087. Her high game was a 180.

Dan Moynihan, 20, a junior at Tufts University in Medford, Mass., lowered his own meet record by nine seconds in winning the New England Cross-Country championship for the second straight year. Moynihan was clocked in 23:51 over the five-mile course.

Randy Hendricks, a quarterback for Sherman High School in Seth, W. Va., passed for nine touchdowns in a 76-26 victory over Chapmanville. He completed 13 of 22 passes for 454 yards in setting a state record for TD passes, four more than the old mark.
