FACES IN THE CROWD

Darryl Robinson, 13, an eighth-grader at Shasta Junior High in Eugene, Ore., broke his own eight-day-old national age-group track record in the 220 with a clocking of 22.8. His time, set in a junior high dual meet in Eugene, bettered the old mark by .9 seconds.

Corinne Kenison, 15, of Menlo Park, Calif., defeated seven boys to capture the 15-year-old division of the Napa Invitational Judo Tournament in Napa, Calif. A purple belt for six months, she outpointed all of her opponents in less than one minute each.

Greg Benko, 20, of Wayne State (Detroit), became the fourth freshman to gain All-America honors in fencing. Benko ended the year with a 117-10 record, won the Great Lakes foil title and was third in the foil competition at the NCAA championship.

Rick Kennedy, a sophomore at St. Louis University, led the nation in collegiate hockey scoring. He tallied 47 goals and 49 assists for 96 points, pacing the Billikens to a 26-12 season record and the Central Collegiate Hockey Association championship.

Tom Adams, a senior at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis., captured the 150-pound NAIA wrestling championship to become the first national mat winner in the school's 125-year history. Adams finished the season with 37 victories and no defeats.

Howie Schnidman, a senior attackman at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., scored 63 goals and made 21 assists in 18 lacrosse games, breaking school records for most goals and points (84) in one season. Schnidman totaled 125 goals and 171 points in four years.
