Joe Duren, a senior placekicker at Arkansas State University, booted a modern NCAA record field goal of 63 yards and later kicked a 56-yarder to defeat McNeese State 22-20. Earlier he connected with a 43-yarder, and had 12 in 18 tries for the season.

John H. Daniels, a wrestler in the 114-pound division for Hartford (Conn.) Public High, compiled a 24-0 record in his first full season. Of his 20 pins, 17 were consecutive, and he was the only junior to place first in the state high school championships.

Angela LeBlanc, a senior at Lake Region Union High in Orleans, Vt., led her field hockey team to its third straight state championship. Playing left inner, Angela averaged two goals a game in tournament play, and in 30 games over two years scored 60 goals.

Rick Hofmann, a junior goalie on the La Salle (Pa.) College soccer team, played 638 consecutive minutes without permitting a rival score. Hofmann blanked six straight teams—the last five he faced in 1973 and the first this year—before yielding a goal.

Buddy Creamer, a Federal Reserve clerk in Richmond, set National Duckpin Bowling Congress world records for league and season play. He averaged 148.49 pins per game in a three-man-team league and 142.285 for 375 league and tournament games.

G. Thomas Warren, a San Diego tavern owner, broke the Clear Lake Marathon record by 51 minutes. His time for the seven-mile flat run, three-mile lake swim, 3,000-foot mountain climb plus descent, and concluding three-mile swim was three hours, 36 minutes.
