FACES IN THE CROWD

Hank Geiger, 9, of Dayton, Ohio, was determined to be the winner of the individual sub-junior division in the N.R.A. Summer Camp Rifle Postal Matches, with a perfect score of 100. His Camp Mohawk for Boys team won every division in the .22 caliber category.

Billy Sims, a senior at Hooks (Texas) High, completed the season with 2,885 yards rushing, giving him a three-year total of 7,738, second-best in the state's history. He also scored 516 points in his career, and his lowest one-game rushing figure was 123 yards.

Devorah Dometrich, a legal assistant at Rickenbacker AFB in Columbus, Ohio, won the All America Karate Federation championship, reclaiming a title she won as a 16-year-old eight years ago. Her father and mother both hold black belts in karate.

Cindy Reggi, 18, of Harpers Ferry, W. Va., was the leading jockey at Charles Town, winning 43 races, two more than her nearest rival. Reggi was also the busiest jockey, riding 318 mounts on 54 of the 59 cards. She is the first female jockey to lead a U.S. meeting.

B. J. Fowler, a freshman, and Larry Stinson, a sophomore, both of Laconia (N.H.) High, placed first and second with identical times of 13:10.36 in the state high school cross-country championships, finishing 60 yards ahead of the third-place runner. Last spring Fowler bettered the world age-group records for 13-year-olds at two miles (9:57) and three miles (15:13). Last summer, as a 14-year-old, Stinson ran a 4:23 mile, placing second in the semifinals behind the eventual champion at the AAU Junior Olympics at Brown University.
