
FACES IN THE CROWD
Carol Heynen, 10, has won three Southern California tennis tournaments this year: the 12-and-under at La Jolla, beating the top seed; the El Dorado and women's C title at Long Beach. Last year Carol was victorious in nine 10-and-under competitions.
Jack Greenwood, 49, of Medicine Lodge, Kans., won four events at the World Masters championships in Toronto. He holds world age-group (45-49) records in the open decathlon (4,754 points), 400 (52.0), 400 hurdles (55.7) and 110 hurdles (15.0).
Jimmy Clar, 8, of Rochester, N.Y., scored 38 goals in seven games to pace his team to the Chili Little Guy Soccer League division title. Jimmy booted all four goals in his team's final regular-season game and five in a 7-1 playoff for the championship.
Joanne Facaros, 40, of Alma, Mich., made her third hole in one in less than a month at the local Pine River Country Club. Facaros, who has been playing golf almost every day for 10 years, scored her aces on par-3 holes of 190 yards, 180 yards and 130 yards.
Charles Bentley, 32, a math teacher from Dundas, Ontario, cruised to his second straight victory in the Trans-Superior Sailboat Race, completing the 400-odd miles from Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. to Duluth, Minn. in his C&C 39 in less than three days.
Mark Bain, a 14-year-old righthander for the Fayetteville (N.C.) All-Stars, had a 5-0 playoff record, with two no-hitters, for the North Carolina Junior Tar Heel championship. Fayetteville won the title as Mark pitched a three-hitter. His season record was 10-0.
