LONDON, ENGLAND
A reporter for the London Evening Standard, Murphy, 27, swam Loch Ness from Fort Augustus to Lochend (with temperatures as low as 49° F.) in 10½ hours, to lower the record by four hours. He did the butterfly over the last 100 meters.

MARY STIDWORTHY
PRESCOTT, ARIZ.
A member of the National Guard, Stidworthy, 19, has won seven national rifle championships in the past four years. She has won the Women's Any-sight (scope) title three times and has shot 41 perfect 1,600-point aggregates in competition.

HENRY PARKS
HARRODSBURG, KY.
Parks, a senior tailback, is the state's scoring leader with 208 points and more than 4,000 yards while attending Harrodsburg High. This season he rushed for 1,965 yards—406 in 22 carries against Berea—to lead the Pioneers to a 10-2 season.

SUSAN LONCAR
DETROIT, MICH.
A junior at Wayne State, Loncar had an 8-0 singles tennis record and won her Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference flight to lead her team to its second straight title. The Tartars' 10-2 dual-meet record included seven shutouts.

JOHN DETI
LARAMIE, WYO.
Deti, 66, who is retiring as football coach at Laramie High after 33 years, won 10 state AA titles. Along with nine undefeated seasons his teams had a 217-88-8 record. In 1974 he was also selected as the national Coach of the Year.

JOHN TREACY
VILLIERSTOWN, IRELAND
Treacy, a junior at Providence College, captured the New England Intercollegiate Cross-Country championship in a record time of 23:06 for the 5.1-mile course. He also led the Friars (11-0) to their third straight New England championship.
