NEW CONCORD, OHIO
Barney, a 136-pound, 4-year-old bull mastiff, is a top-ranked dog in his breed for 1976, although shown only five months. Owned by Richard Watson and trained by David Saylor, he won 21 best-of-breeds before retiring.

Marcella, nearly 60, is trumpeted as the oldest performing elephant in the world. She began her career in 1922, after arriving from Ceylon, and has not missed a single performance with the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus.

FAIRFIELD, CONN.
Mick, a 6-year-old gelding, has won 14 junior hunter titles in his two-year show career. Owned by Henry Rudkin and ridden by Katherine Burdsall, the Irish thoroughbred was reserve champion twice this year, and is sixth-ranked nationally.

Infected Chest won the 45th annual Johns Hopkins Hospital Turtle Derby, defeating 50 box turtles, by crawling out of a three-foot circle first. Infected Chest, out of Pneumonia by Bronchitis, was sponsored by the respiration therapy department.

RINGO
ARVADA, COLO.
An 11-year-old burro, Ringo won the World Championship Pack Race at Fairplay, Colo. and the International Pack Race at Leadville. Colo. In the former, Ringo carried 33 pounds (of mining equipment) over the 23-mile course.

Ranse (as he is called by his friends). 7, is the first Samoyed ever to win four best-in-shows in a single year. Owned by Dr. R. J. Hritzo and handled by Tom Glassford, he also won 12 first-in-groups this year.
