FACES IN THE CROWD

BOB KAY
BLACK DIAMOND, WASH.
Kay, 39, an aircraft air-conditioning engineer, bicycled 239 miles, one short of the U.S. record, in the Pacific Coast 12-hour Time Trial Championship near Salem, Ore. The field consisted of 75 cyclists, most of them 17- and 18-year-olds.

NINI WUENSCH
COLCHESTER, VT.
Nini, a senior gymnast at Colchester High, was named Vermont's high school Athlete of the Year. She has been undefeated for three straight years and is state champion in the all-round event and two other individual events.

RODNEY HOLMAN
YPSILANTI, MICH.
A 6'4", 191-pound junior wrestler at Ypsilanti High, Rodney was undefeated in 44 matches, raising his three-year varsity record to 100-15-1. A tight end on the football team, he caught 20 passes for 463 yards and seven TDs last season.

GAIL OLSON
SYCAMORE, ILL.
Eight days after his 17th birthday, Gail, a student at Sycamore High, high-jumped a world age-group record 7'4". Three weeks earlier he had leaped 7'3¼", a world record for 16-year-olds, and at age 15 he cleared 7'2", also a world record.

BUZZ GREENE
MARION, ALA.
Buzz, a 5'11", 185-pound senior righthander, tossed five no-hitters and won eight games without a loss for Marion Institute Prep School (14-1). He struck out 112 batters in 45 innings and, in one stretch, did not allow a hit in 33 straight innings.

JOHN TUTTLE
ALFRED, N.Y.
John, a senior at Alfred Almond High, set meet records in the mile (4:10.6) and the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:14.5) in the Loucks games. His clocking is the best ever by a U.S. schoolboy in interscholastic competition.
