Wendy, 16, won the Southern girls' 18-and-under tennis championship. She is the first Georgian named to the U.S. Junior Wightman Cup team. A senior at Westminster School, Wendy also won Atlanta's city championship this year.

Ronny, 14, took gold medals in both the three-meter and the combined five- and 7.5-meter events in the 13-14 category at the International Age Group Diving Championships in The Woodlands, Texas. Drew, who just turned 15, won gold medals in the one-meter and the three-meter events. She won the YMCA national one-meter title earlier this year. Eighty-eight divers from 13 countries competed in The Woodlands, with the U.S. taking 31 of a possible 48 golds.

Saxe and Shaffer achieved a national junior college first by pitching back-to-back no-hitters in a doubleheader for Monroe Community College of Rochester, N.Y. In the first of two seven-inning games against Hilbert College, Saxe, a righthander, struck out 11 in a 7-0 victory. Shaffer, a lefthander, then struck out 16 in the second game, a 12-0 victory. Both pitchers finished the season with 4-0 records; Saxe's ERA was 1.19 and Shaffer's 1.86. Monroe ended the year at 23-4.

A senior at Clark High, James is the only runner in Nevada AAA high school history to win the cross-country (12:08 for 2½ miles), the mile (4:29) and two-mile (9:44) titles in the same season. James is a two-time All-America in cross-country.
