Walter, 20, won the Baltimore Public Parks golf championship by a record 10 strokes. The University of Georgia junior also took the Maryland Stroke Play 54-hole tournament at the Mount Pleasant Golf Course by seven strokes.

Boatman, 32, won her second straight national women's open freestyle outdoor field-archery championship, in Clemson. S.C., scoring a total of 2,617 out of a possible 2,800 points. She has also won eight New York State indoor titles.

Dr. Russell, 36, Florida Medical Society fitness chairman, won two events at the AAU Masters track and field championships in Paramus, N.J. and later in the day had five firsts at the Pennsylvania Dutch Masters meet in Reading, Pa.

Hawn, a 23-year-old secretary, holds the state all-tackle record for bluefin tuna (540 pounds). Until recently she also held state records for blue marlin (560 pounds) and Mako shark (325 pounds), both boated on 80-pound-test.

EAST ST. LOUIS, ILL.
Jackie, 15, of the East St. Louis Railers track club, won the intermediate girls pentathlon at the National Junior Olympics at Yakima, Wash. Her 3,611 points, 207 more than her nearest rival, were a U.S. age-group record.

RAYNHAM, MASS.
Michaud, 30, won the women's title at the 56th World Horseshoe Pitching Championship held in Greenville, Ohio when she defeated five-time world champion Ruth Hangen of Getzville, N.Y., 38-52, 50-40, 54-17 in the playoff.
